What A Not So Great Life

Prologue



      So there I was, standing in a hallway full of seniors, terrified.  My high school life was just beginning, but I wasn't sure I was ready.  I walk to my locker, my locker, in the senior hallway...why?  All of my friends having a great time in the freshmen hallway, and here I am, all alone, just waiting to be picked on.  As soon as I figured out how to open my locker, I felt someone tap on my shoulder.  When I turned around, I noticed it was my dance teacher's senior daughter.  "Oh, hey Sarah.", I said, relieved, "I'm glad you found me."  She looked confused, like she wasn't sure why I looked happy to see her.  "So you're the little freshman in the big senior hallway, hah, like you're gonna walk these halls everyday without getting picked on, good luck.", Sarah said with a smirk on her face.  Then, I heard the warning bell ring, so I quickly said, "Gotta go to class!", and hurried on, minding my own business. 
       As I was walking up the stairs to go to my first hour class, this huge football player, a senior, walked up behind me and pulled my bookbag off of my back, causing all of my books to fall out.  "Hah, pathetic freshman", he laughed.  How rude, I thought, the seniors could at least cut us some slack on the first day, whatever.  So I had to go back down the stairs and grab my books and bookbag and hurry up to my class.  Oh, how I couldn't wait for this day to be over! 
       So many people always tell me, 'Oh, Madeline, high school is the best years of your life!', 'Oh, Madeline, high school flies by so fast!', 'Oh, Madeline, people are so much more mature in high school!'.  So far, high school is not looking like it is going to be the best years of my life, I'm hoping high school flies by fast, and people are not acting much more mature as they did in middle school, so thanks people, for giving me some stinking bad advice.  High school...what a not so great life!
